SBI bank statement PDF password: format and how to remove it
5 min read · Updated 6 October 2026
SBI is the bank whose statement password confuses people most, for one reason: it is not a single format. Which password opens the file depends on where you got the statement from. The covering email or SMS always states the exact one, but here are the common formats.
The SBI statement password, by source
Passwords are case-sensitive, with no spaces.
- Downloaded from net banking (OnlineSBI) or YONO Lite: your 11-digit account number.
- E-statement emailed to you: the last 5 digits of your registered mobile number + your date of birth as DDMMYY. For a mobile ending 34586 and a birthday of 12 February 1990, that is 34586120290.
- YONO app statement: DDMM of birth + @ + last 4 digits of your registered mobile — for example 1210@5467.
- SBI credit card statement: the 16-digit card number, or the first 4 letters of your name + DDMM of birth.
If one is rejected, you almost certainly have a statement from a different source than you assumed — an emailed statement and a net-banking download genuinely use different passwords.
Where to find the details
Your account number is on any cheque leaf, in the passbook, and on the net-banking dashboard. Your registered mobile number is the one that receives your SBI OTPs. If you are unsure of either, the SBI YONO app shows both under your account profile.
Removing the password so you never retype it
Knowing the format is only half the job — you still retype it on every open, and you cannot merge or compress the statement while it stays locked. So remove it once:
- Open Unlock PDF and add the statement.
- Enter the password using the format above for your source.
- Download the unlocked copy — it opens directly from then on and keeps its real, selectable text.
This runs entirely in your browser. Your statement and the password are never uploaded — which matters enormously for a financial document. (Why uploading a statement to unlock it is the risky step.) For the full walkthrough and the privacy reasoning, see how to remove a bank statement password.
For other banks, the password format guide lists them all. Removing the password from your own statement is generally fine; doing it to documents you are not authorised to access can be unlawful.
Frequently asked questions
What is the password to open an SBI statement PDF?
It depends on the source. A net-banking download uses your 11-digit account number; an emailed e-statement uses the last 5 digits of your mobile number plus your date of birth as DDMMYY; a YONO statement uses DDMM of birth, an @ sign, and the last 4 digits of your mobile. The covering email states the exact format.
Why does my SBI statement password not work?
Almost always because the statement came from a different source than the format you tried — an emailed statement and a net-banking download use different passwords. Re-read the email the file arrived in; it names the correct format.
Is it safe to remove an SBI statement password online?
Only if the file is not uploaded. This tool decrypts inside your browser, so the statement and password never leave your device. You can confirm it by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — it still works.
