HDFC bank statement PDF password: format and how to remove it
4 min read · Updated 6 October 2026
HDFC trips people up because, unlike most banks, its account statement password is not your date of birth. It is your Customer ID.
The HDFC statement password
Passwords are case-sensitive, with no spaces.
- Bank account statement: your Customer ID / User ID — the 8 to 10-digit number you log in with.
- HDFC credit card statement: the first 4 letters of your name in capitals + DDMM of your date of birth — for example RAJE1503 for Rajesh born on 15 March.
The statement email states the exact format, so check it if in doubt.
Where to find your HDFC Customer ID
This is the part people get stuck on. Your Customer ID appears in several places:
- The HDFC Mobile Banking app, under My Profile.
- The NetBanking login page and dashboard.
- Your welcome kit and the top of your cheque book.
- The header of any previous statement you have already opened.
Removing the password for good
- Open Unlock PDF and add the statement.
- Enter your Customer ID (or the credit-card format above).
- Download the unlocked copy — it opens directly from then on, with its real text intact.
Everything happens in your browser; the statement and the Customer ID are never uploaded. That is the whole point for a financial document — an upload-based unlocker would receive your statement and its key together on a server you cannot audit. (More on that risk.) The full walkthrough is in how to remove a bank statement password, and every bank's format is in the password format guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the password for an HDFC bank statement PDF?
For an account statement it is your Customer ID (the 8 to 10-digit number you log in to NetBanking with), not your date of birth. For an HDFC credit card statement it is the first 4 letters of your name in capitals plus DDMM of your date of birth, such as RAJE1503.
Where do I find my HDFC Customer ID?
In the HDFC mobile app under My Profile, on the NetBanking login page, in your welcome kit or cheque book, or in the header of any earlier statement you have already opened.
Can I remove the HDFC password permanently?
Yes. Enter your Customer ID once in the Unlock tool and download an unlocked copy that opens without any password from then on. It is decrypted in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
