Kotak bank statement PDF password: format and how to remove it
4 min read · Updated 6 October 2026
Kotak Mahindra Bank uses your CRN (Customer Relationship Number) as the main statement password, and notably it rotates its formats from time to time — so the covering email is more than usually the authority here.
The Kotak statement password
Passwords are case-sensitive, with no spaces.
- Bank account statement: your 8 to 9-digit CRN, entered on its own. Some statements instead use your date of birth as DDMMYYYY.
- Kotak credit card statement: the first 4 letters of your name in lower case + DDMM of your date of birth, or your CRN + DDMM.
Because Kotak changes the format periodically, if a password is rejected, open the statement email and use exactly the format it names for that month.
How to find your CRN
Your CRN is shown:
- in the Kotak mobile app and on Net Banking, under your profile;
- on your welcome kit and cheque book;
- by SMS — send CRN from your registered mobile number to Kotak's banking SMS number listed in the app.
Removing the password
- Open Unlock PDF and add the statement.
- Enter your CRN (or the format the email specifies).
- Download the unlocked copy — it opens directly afterward with real selectable text.
It is decrypted in your browser, so the statement and your CRN are never uploaded. (Why that is the safe way.) See how to remove a bank statement password for the full method, and the format guide for every other bank.
Frequently asked questions
What is the password for a Kotak bank statement PDF?
Usually your 8 to 9-digit CRN (Customer Relationship Number) entered on its own; some statements use your date of birth as DDMMYYYY instead. Kotak credit card statements use the first 4 letters of your name in lower case plus DDMM, or your CRN plus DDMM.
How do I find my Kotak CRN?
It is shown in the Kotak mobile app and Net Banking under your profile, on your welcome kit and cheque book, or you can get it by SMS by sending CRN from your registered mobile number to Kotak's banking SMS number.
Why does my Kotak password keep changing?
Kotak rotates its statement password format from time to time, so an older format may stop working. The statement email always names the current format — use exactly what it says for that month, then remove the password with the Unlock tool so you are not caught out again.
